Fall is here, and there’s a lot happening at Salon West! Along with getting everyone ready for the new season, we have a special opportunity to give back to our community—and we’re also preparing for an exciting education event coming up in October.
Throughout the entire month of October, Salon West will be collecting donations for Becky’s Backpacks, formerly known as The Grove Community Church Backpack Ministry.
The ministry has been renamed in loving memory of Becky Garlovo, a very special member of The Grove Community Church who recently passed away. Becky had a huge heart for children and was passionate about getting this ministry started.
The Backpack Ministry provides backpacks filled with food to help support local public-school children who may need extra food assistance at home over the weekends. Renaming the ministry Becky’s Backpacks is a beautiful way to continue the work she cared so deeply about while keeping her memory at the heart of it.
Salon West will have donation bins at BOTH of our locations for the entire month of October.
Items needed include canned chicken or tuna, rice, mac and cheese, cereal bars, individual oatmeal or grits, ramen noodles, canned fruits and vegetables, and small elementary-age books.
You can simply bring your donations with you to your next appointment—or stop by either Salon West location and drop them in the collection bin.
Every donation, big or small, helps fill a backpack and support a child in our community. 💙
We’re also getting excited about our October 4 extension class, featuring the Bar Method, an exclusive hand-tied sew-in extension technique developed by the owner of The Color Bar in Houston.
We are still looking for models who would like the opportunity to participate!
Consultations can be scheduled at either Salon West location, and the October 4 class itself will be held at our Midtown / Old Shell Road location. Because every head of hair and extension plan is different, pricing and details will be discussed individually during the consultation.

One of the things we love most about Salon West is that our salon has always been about more than hair. It’s about relationships, community, continuing to learn and finding ways to use what we have to help others.
